According to Dorothy Suskind (2016), “teacher researchers are innovators, curriculum drivers, agents of school change, and directors of their own professional development”. In order to reside in a world where issues such as youth unemployment, or unemployment is at its peak, there should be more teachers who strive to make a difference. To teach in a way that would prepare the students for what is to come of their future, what to expect, and also using that as a basis and teach them the necessary skills to overcome this matter. One way to do that is for teachers to be teacher-researchers, meaning they are the driving force not only of their own professional development but also the development of their students.   2.      SOUTH AFRICA YOUTH UNEMPLOYMENT. ·           Youth Unemployment in South Africa. As seen in the graphic above, there is a clear distinction of how big the difference is between unemployment amongst the youth and those older. These kinds of numbers are what cause the self-esteem of young people to decrease as they might come to  realize  that what is the use of studying hard for a certain profession when it all will be for nothing and that it will only result in sitting at home without a job. And this is only for those that did study, when it comes to those that did not finish school due to poverty or home circumstances, or only have a matric certificate, it is even more difficult to find a job. Which inadvertently leads to an increase of youth unemployment.
