Teacher Researcher, A Scientist to Enlighten the Youth of Today
1. THE RELEVANCE OF TEACHER RESEARCHER.
According to Dorothy Suskind (2016), “teacher researchers are innovators, curriculum drivers, agents of school change, and directors of their own professional development”. In order to reside in a world where issues such as youth unemployment, or unemployment is at its peak, there should be more teachers who strive to make a difference. To teach in a way that would prepare the students for what is to come of their future, what to expect, and also using that as a basis and teach them the necessary skills to overcome this matter. One way to do that is for teachers to be teacher-researchers, meaning they are the driving force not only of their own professional development but also the development of their students. To use more authentic ways to motivate students to take charge of their own learning and their own development, that way when they are faced with unemployment, they can use their skills to create new opportunities for themselves. For example, becoming entrepreneurs and starting their own businesses. For this reason, it is important that teachers become researchers because their actions and the foundations they create for students, are what makes the future leaders of today.
